I felt like finding out the gdeenr helped me to feel like the pregnancy was a lot more real and concrete. We'd lost our first pregnancy, and with the second one, I kind of never really wanted to get excited or think/talk about it very much during the first couple trimesters- I just really felt kind of removed from the whole process (other than the fact that I felt like I had the flu and the world's worst hangover rolled into one all day long). For some reason, getting to use a gdeenred pronoun ("he" instead of "it" all the time) made a big difference to me psychologically in starting to bond with the baby and get excited about him.
